Acerca del evento

On Sunday July 19 we are going to walk to Peñiscola.

PEÑISCOLA

Coastal population belonging to the Province of Castellón, Valencian Community.

It has an infinity of tourist attractions that we can list. But we must be honest that its main historical and patrimonial attraction is centered on the Papa Luna Castle, a construction ordered by the Knights Templar.

It is mandatory to visit your:

OLD TOWN , built on the Ruins of the Arab Alcazaba * at the beginning of the 13th century

PAPALUNA CASTLE

They built the Castle in the image and likeness of those who had previously built in the Holy Land and Finished until the beginning of the XIII Century (1307AD) called thus (Papaluna Castle) when it became the Papal Residence of BENEDICT XIII Pedro Martínez de Luna who was considered Heretic by the Catholic Church and Self-Exiled in this Castle Dying there in the year 1,423 at the age of 94.

THE BUFFER:

Natural Architectural Phenomenon in which through a Hole between the Rocks created by the erosion of the Sea and the Wind, it blows with intensity when the Tide rises.

Incredible 15Km of Beautiful Beaches Divided between the Great Beach

When we talk about beaches in Peñíscola, the first one that comes to mind is Playa Norte. Its 5.5 kilometers of fine sand begin at the foot of the Castle and run along Avenida Papa Luna until reaching the neighboring city of Benicarló.

Playa Norte usually renews all the ISO and AENOR Quality Certificates annually, in addition to the Q for Tourist Quality and the Blue Flag. This is due to all the services available, as well as, of course, the quality of its sand and the cleanliness of its waters.

But in addition to the aforementioned North Beach, there are others less known and not less recommended for them. We are talking, for example, of the South Beach, the Viudas Beach, the Pebret and Russo Beaches, and the 15 coves that dot the coast of the Sierra de Irta.

The South Beach, located next to the Fishing Port, measures 850 meters and has as its main attraction the tranquility of its waters due to the wall that forms the breakwater. In it, you will also find the Escuela de la Mar, where kayaking, dinghy sailing and windsurfing courses are taught for adults and children.

Next to the South Beach, and separated by a small breakwater, is the cinematographic Playa de las Viudas, in which Professor Hamilton appeared in Luis García Berlanga's “Calabuch”.

Finally, following the road that leads to the Sierra de Irta Natural Park, and after passing the Torre Badum, we find two treasures: La Playa del Pebret and Playa del Russo. Easy to locate, because next to them there is an old building and a parking area and picnic areas have been set up. It is the ideal place to spend a whole day with the family enjoying nature, the sea, the clean sand and the crystal clear waters.

Before and after these beaches we will find more inaccessible coves, which have the charm of their anonymity and where nudism is usually practiced.
