Join us to get to know the Beautiful Town of Siurana.

Encinglada in an impregnable place above the river, it took the knights of four counts to subdue her.

Its castle defended an impassable border that extended from Coll de Balaguer to Tamarit de Gaià.

Conquered in 1153, after the fall of Lleida and Tortosa, it was the last stronghold of the reconquest in Catalonia. If you look at the precipice that surrounds it, you will discover why it was not conquered for three centuries and why the end was so tragic.

Abdelazia, the Moorish Queen, before being subjected to the Christians, preferred to jump off the imposing cliff with her horse, to leave the Cliff Baptized with her Name.

The animal, in its useless resistance, left its horseshoe mark on the rock forever and ever. With the end of the queen the last Saracen bastion of Catalonia disappeared.

Today, we can see a charming village of houses and cobbled streets and the remains of the Saracen fortress, located at the entrance of the town. At its feet, a marsh with clean and calm waters offer the possibility of practicing all kinds of water sports.

The most relevant building in Siurana is the Church, in Romanesque style, which has a portal with a figurative tympanum framed by three semicircular archivolts; these rest on six columns with capitals decorated with various motifs.

Siurana is surrounded by interesting places and from the town you can enjoy magnificent views of the Sierra de Montsant, La Gritella and the Prades Mountains.

Highlight Siurana as a reference and destination for climbers and hikers. Its legendary cliffs are recognized throughout the world for the performance of these practices.

There will be activities for all tastes, Hiking, Canoeing, Kayaking through the Siurana Swamp, Visits to the Medieval Town, Castle Ruins and much more, it will be a Reencounter with pure and Oxygenating Nature that will recharge us with Energies

ITINERARY

We will leave at 7:45 from Fabra i Puig and at 8 from Plaza España

We go directly to the town of Siurana, there those who have decided to take the guided route which I highly recommend because that is how they explain the history of the town, the Arab past and how people lived at that time, in addition to an important review that they give on the characteristics of the land and the geological formations that make up the Sierra del Montsant.

This experience lasts approximately one hour and 30 minutes and the truth is quite lively and fun.

Once we get to the town, the bus leaves us in the parking lot about a 5-minute walk from the town of Siurana, the idea is to get there at approximately 10 in the morning since we have a journey from Barcelona of approximately 2 hours or a little less, regardless of whether or not they take the guided route, everyone can go on their own.

The town of Siurana is the starting point to do countless hiking routes that do have unevenness to the Siurana reservoir, where it is approximately 30 minutes going down but more than an hour going up.
